Argon 5/2 is the shielding gas of choice when using the MIG process. Argon 5/2 contains 5% Co2, 2% Oxygen in Argon. This tri-mix will produce minimal splatter and is more forgiving on thinner cuts of mild steel. If MIG welding with aluminum, Argon is the recommended shielding gas.
